      Part one:  Snow

Zena woke with a start. “It’s freezing”, she thought. She looked at her clock, it was quarter till 8:00, “I’m going to be late for school again”. She dressed, hurried down stairs, grabbed her bag and ran to the door. She turned the handle and pushed. The door didn’t move. She tried again but still the door would not budge. Then Zena remembered to pull the door to open it not push. She pulled the door open and tried to push the screen door open but it would not move. Zena ran to the window, pulled back the curtain and all she saw was white. She put her hand on the glass, it was so cold. She took her hand away and there where her hand had been was a foggy outline. She ran up stairs and looked out the bathroom window and still she could see only white. Suddenly the phone rang. Zena had forgotten that they had a phone, she ran down stairs and picked up the phone.
        “Hello, Zena is that you?”
        “Mom, where are you?”
“I’m at work but we’re snowed in. How about you?”
“Yep, first and second floor, so I guess I still have school.”
        “Zena!”
“ Mom it was a joke, I figured if I can’t get out of the house then there’s no school.”
“Ha ha, very funny, I just thought you were stupid.”
        “ Mom,”
        “What?”
        “Where’s dad and Chris.”
“They left when I left so there probably at work, Zena I have to go but I’ll call back around lunch time, O.K.?”
        “O.K.”
        “Love you.”
        “Love you too.”
            “Bye.”
“Bye.” The phone hung up with a click.

Minutes slip by very slowly, minutes past that seemed like hours. Zena started to drift off to sleep, the cold made her so tired for a reason she did not under stand. Zena shot back to consciousness when she heard a noise outside the house. “But there was no way, the house was snowed in all the way up to the second floor, and the whole town was probably covered in snow too.” Still the sound persisted no matter how much Zena tried to convince herself that it wasn't real, but still it wouldn't go away. Finally when she could take it no more, it stopped. She waited for a little. She got on her coat, hat and gloves, and snow pants. She went over to the door, “lets try this one more time,” she gave the door a shove but no matter how much she tried it still would not move. Exasperated she gave up, she glared at the door and some how  it seamed as if it was laughing at her unrewarded effort. “I have to get out, I can’t take it any longer.” Zena ran to the window and with a yank she pulled it open, she took out the screen with such force that she almost broke the screen. An invisible force drove her . Zena started to dig at a frightening rate. when the hole in the snow was big enough she climbed in and still she dug even faster than before. The invisible force drove her, telling her to keep going. If some one was there they'd probably say she’d gone insane but she hadn't she knew what she was doing and it seamed fine but the thing that might have worried some one else was that she was wearing holes in her brand new gloves. Only a few minutes had passed since she had started the tunnel but already she had  dug 6 ft. Suddenly the snow fell out from underneath her and she fell. She was through what seemed like clouds not snow. Then she it the ground. Zena saw trees and deer before she blacked out.

    Part two:  Who are you

Kellin sat patiently, concealed by shrubs, as he waited for the right time to release his arrow into a grazing deer. As Kellin released his arrow a loud noise disturbed the deer. The deer ran out of the glade and out of site. Kellin turned around and glared at his little brother, Rain, but he was sitting quietly beside him. Rain was 7 years old, and 9 years younger than him. Kellin Walked out from behind the bushes to retrieve his arrow. A squirrel ran down a tree and grab the arrow. Kellin paused then slowly went up to the squirrel. Before he got close enough the squirrel dashed into the woods. Kellin grumbled, Rain giggled and they both headed after the squirrel.
They chased the squirrel all around the woods. Kellin stopped bent over and panted, cursed the squirrel and started running again. The squirrel stopped suddenly dropped the arrow and started to inch towards a bush. Rain started to run towards the arrow but Kellin held him back. “Why......” Kellin cut Rain off.   “Shh, watch.” Rain watched for a little bit.
“What are we watching for?” He just couldn't control himself.
“Watch the squirrel” Kellin whispered, “see how he cautiously approaches the bushes, there’s something strange in there.” A sudden noise scared the squirrel and sent him scurrying. Kellin started to edge closer to the bush forgetting about the arrow. Rain pulled on his arm.
         “wait, it could be dangerous.”
“I can handle myself.” Kellin pulled away and started toward the bush again. Kellin pulled back the branches and saw a lump of forest green fabric on the ground. As Kellin got closer, with Rain trailing right behind, he heard a groan come from under the fabric. Kellin went up to the lump and pulled away the fabric and revealed a girl of about 16 with blond hair that fell to about the middle of her back. The girl wore a cloak of royal blue, her shirt was made of leather and was dark brown and she wore a skirt of the same color.
From behind him Rain whispered “she's pretty,” then a little louder asked, “Kellin who is she?”
“I don't know.” Kellin murmured lost in thought. Kellin handed his bow and quiver to Rain, “ here hold this and go get the arrow.”
“Why do I have to carry these, there yours.” Rain  complained.
“Do you think you can lift her?” Rain grumbled and went to fetch the arrow. Kellin bent down and picked up the girl. Kellin noticed that there was a strange mark on the  girl’s left hand that resembled a dragon. “Hurry up Rain, we need to get her back to the village.” Rain came strolling out of the bushes with a wide grin on his face. “What are you so happy about?”
“Look what I found,” Rain held up a big stone. The stone was a deep purplish black color with specks of white all over it. It reminded Kellin of a night sky.
Kellin smiled at Rain, “Come on, lets go.”..........
